Learning Commons, also known as scholars' commons, information commons or digital commons, are learning spaces that share resources and support various activities like information technology, online education, tutoring, collaboration, and content creation. THEi Learning Commons & Digital Innovation (LCDI) provides library resources, IT support, and education support for students and staff. Its physical location at the Chai Wan Campus houses unique collections tailored to the Institute's programs. Students also have access to the extensive library collection of the VTC Library.
THEi's LC offers services such as circulation and reference, intercampus and interlibrary loans, as well as laptop and tablet loan services. Additionally, students have access to VTC's Learning Resources Centres across different campuses in Hong Kong. The Learning Commons at THEi's Chai Wan Campus spans over 1,500 square meters and includes various facilities, like individual learning areas, small and large group discussion areas, group study rooms, an electronic classroom, and printing and scanning facilities. The LC also features special projects to enhance the learning experience, including One-Button Studio, MakerSpace, and VR/AR Learning Corner.
LCDI provides programs on technology-enhanced learning, professional development, library literacy, and academic writing. Orientation sessions and workshops on library resources, academic integrity, and citing references are conducted throughout the academic year. LCDI manages educational support platforms like Moodle, which enables teaching staff to upload materials and students to submit assignments. The institute's IT infrastructure, including networking facilities, Wi-Fi, and AV/IT equipment, ensures students have convenient access to the internet and technology.
